I used my Sherline lathe setup in the mill configuration to
mill out the gear cover to fit a .060" thick piece of P.C. board.
 |
Next using a felt tipped marker and scribed two lines for a
section that will get cut out to fit around the gear cover.
 |
Using my fret saw with a metal cutting blade I cut out the center section.
 |
Using a Dremel tool with a grinding disk cut through just the copper so you have
two separate sides for the electricity. The end is cut out so the short
screw that
holds the cover on seats on the cover and not the PC board.
 |
The P.C. board is epoxied to the gear cover.
 |
I was originally going to use phosphor bronze shim stock like I did on a friends engine.
 |
I used phosphor bronze wire for the wipers on the 2-6-6-2 instead. Less friction.
I started with .020" phosphor bronze
from Tichy. .020" was to thick and gave a bit
to much friction on the drive train. I switched to .010" wire. Works much better.
The front engine got the same treatment.
 |
Next I show how I made a plug-n-play system so you don't
have to unsolder the wires if you need to take the engine apart.

Here is the PDF file that shows the dimensions for the P.C. boards for both front and back engines.
