The plastic gear with the two missing teeth. |
Using putty I made a small container to hold the rubber mold material. Extra putty was used to fill in where the missing teeth are. This keps the rubber from filling in this spot. |
The cavity was filled with rubber casting material. |
A cavity was left where the missing teeth where. |
The gear is turned approximately 180 degrees so teeth fill the cavity. |
More rubber casting material is poured into the cavity. |
The excess cured rubber is cut away to revel the top of the gear. |
I noticed this one tooth cavity the was blocked by some rubber casting compound. I didn't find that until I poured the resin casting. |
I poured the resin and made a big mess. Not the best way to do this. |
This is where I discovered the missing tooth, after the pour. |
