Quarry Layout Module

The "No Name Yet" Quarry will be the starting point of my multi-gauge layout. It will be HOn2½ or 30" wide track spacing. The idea came about from a
quarry that is about 23 miles to the West of me. The General Crushed Stone company was serviced by both B&O and the Lehigh Valley. At one time a
narrow gauge railroad served the quarry.

The "General Crushed Stone plant east of Leroy, New York. The B&O and Lehigh Valley had operations here.

The structure at the bottom-middle was a 6 silo storage on the B&O with two tracks running under it.

The right of way of the LV is still visible in this Goggle capture. The line runs from the upper left to the lower right. At one time there was a lot of equipment and buildings here to load the LV hoppers including a 3ft gauge line to move the rock. At the number 25 on the left in the picture is the Marion Steam Shovel once used to dig up the stone rubble.

Birds eye view of the Marion Steam Shovel.

A ground view of the the shovel and the engine, plus car. The engine and car have been moved north of Syracuse, New York to Central Square. The engine and car were donated by the quarry in 1996 to the Central N.Y. Chapter, NRHS museum in Central Square, N.Y. Both have been restored. The shovel still sits at the quarry. At one time I heard rumors that somebody wanted to restore the shovel to working order. Has not happened as of 4-9-2018.
